Phase 1 Research Report
Hi! I thought that you made some good claims regarding the value of teaching disciplinary literacy to elementary students. You argue that students of all grade levels should be pushed to higher cognitive levels. However, I think that you could make these claims more effective by adding supporting evidence. This will further your argument and make it more enticing! I noticed that you say “I personally believe” and “in my opinion” quite a few times in this blog post. Although it’s great to state your convictions and what you feel strongly about, it is equally as important to back these up. By adding references to the readings or outside sources, you can show readers that your claims are worth being heard. I like how you bring up the topic of technology and its negative effect on social literacy. I wonder if there is any research out there that discusses how technology has impacted disciplinary literacy. I would be interested to look into that! I thought it was meaningful how you described your poor experiences in school and how those have shaped you to be a better teacher. Thanks for sharing!
